A juvenile black-crowned night heron perches in a tree on Doughnut Island. I haven’t seen night herons for a while now, it’s surprising to see juveniles still here.

THANK YOU so much!
when the kids were wee ones & cycling to RCYC we’d look forward to spotting the night heron at its local fishing haunt in the lagoon by the RC bridge in early mornings.
I still hear Jacob commenting with delight “mom – look! the night heron is on his purr-ch (very Bostonian)
they left roosting/fishing & haven’t seen them for 4-6 yrs until this year – same spot…sweet!
