The Rotating Service Structure is rolled back from space shuttle Discovery for the final time, revealing the veteran orbiter over the course of 45 minutes for launch the next day (click the play button to view the timelapse).
Old Faithful
Another Ward’s beach geyser erupts into strong sidelight. After each session of shooting in -18°C weather, the cameras would be coated in ice and require careful defrosting for several hours near a constant heat source.
G20 Twilight
Marine security restrictions for Toronto’s G20 meeting leave the inner harbour completely empty on the eve of the summit, looking more like January than June.
Big Kahuna
All things must pass: Big Kahuna, the largest geyser to form on Ward’s beach, goes dormant after reaching a height that dwarfed all other ice formations.
Sunset Eruption
Like Old Faithful, a newly-formed geyser on Ward’s beach erupts into a million points of light under the full pressure of an incoming wave.
Rorschach Twilight
Toronto’s skyline glows in the hues of twilight in this January panorama. The inner harbour is just beginning to freeze, forming ice marring an almost perfect reflection. Lake-effect clouds also formed during the shoot, obscuring the CN Tower’s iconic shape.
Solstice Sunset
The sun sets on 2009′s summer solstice, the harbour conspicuously empty of ferry boats during the civic strike.
City of Lights IV
